Trump and the MAGAts have mocked the Green New Deal as a “Green New Steal” or something similar (I’m not linking to all the lies, but you can search yourself if you care for the details). Their point is that it’s a scam for progressives to try to get the world to shift to solar, wind, and/or nuclear power rather than oil, gas, and coal. It’s a scam because there’s no such thing as global warming, and, I guess, any money spent on alternative energy or reducing polution is inherently, wasteful and fraudlent. (These arguments are not backed up by any evidence; just statements as if they are facts.)

I point this out because, as Krugman notes today, Trump’s elective war with Iran is creating a new oil shock that is likely to accelerate the global move away from fossil fuels and toward renewable forms of energy. This transition is happening rapidly in China and Europe, espeicially, while the U.S. has been falling behind thanks to Trump and the MAGAts. So wouldn’t it be ironic if Trump’s War is the catalyst to restart the Green New Deal in the U.S. and accelerate the switch away from fossil fuels? Talk about a self-own! Trump could go down in history as one of the greenest presidents ever, and a decisive factor in ending the use of fossil fuels globally. 

Yeah, wouldn’t it be ironic? Don’tcha think?
