I get them all the time, but my sister is plagued by them to the extent that she simply doesn\u2019t listen to music on occasions when she otherwise might for fear that a song will be stuck in her head for days or more. My very superficial searching provided more data on the subject than I would have guessed existed \u2014 just look at all <a href=\"https:\/\/musicscience.net\/projects\/music-memory\/earworms\/\">this research<\/a>! Who knew scientists had so much time on their hands? But thank goodness they do bc, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2024\/11\/27\/nx-s1-5200065\/earworm-eraser-christmas-songs\">NPR<\/a>, &#8220;Around 90% of people report this problem at least once a week, according to a 2011 <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/10.1177\/0305735611406578\">study<\/a> in the journal Psychology of Music.\u201d And thanks to all that research, we can all benefit from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LvDl3kL42uU\">Earworm Eraser<\/a>, &#8220;a 40-second audio track designed specifically to squash earworms.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I tried it.
