Better than you'd expect, I promise. Funny, even witty at times, and it should put you on the edge of your seat w/o grossing you out. Yeah, lame Hollywood ending, it's no Hitchcock, yadda2x, but still, surprisingly enjoyable.

Amusing, Wes Anderson's obsession w/filthy rich characters filled w/ennui is getting a little tired.

Surprisingly good, actually. Totally G-rated, love story, terrific family/mixed company fare.

Ponderous. Obviously adapted from a play; still very play-like in its dialogue and limited scenes. Most interesting: The bigshot lawyer seems to take the case only b/c he decides that the boy is innocent. How many people would not get any defense if all lawyers operated that way?

Fun perspective on nonviolent crime, if a little predictable in ending. Needed more Maggie Gyllenhaal.

YART. (Yet another airplane thriller.) Almost completely mindless but some good tension possible if you're in the mood to suspend your disbelief...

Typical Michael Douglas action "thriller." IOW, not so thrilling. Total Hollywood.

Good fun. Several laugh-out-louds. Val Kilmer was better than he's been since "Real Genius" and Robert Downey Jr. also gives a great showing even if he is too old for the part he's supposed to be playing. Fun metanarrative commentary, as well.

The book this is based on was terrific to read in college — like entering an entirely new (and hedonistic) world. The story is better in the reading than the viewing, but not bad in viewing. Must-see for Henry Miller fans...

As romantic comedies go, this one is mostly a miss. So improbable on so many levels suspension of disbelief is difficult. Kind of fun in a completely mindless way, but "Music & Lyrics" beats this by miles and miles in the recent rom-com crop.

An adequate thriller/spy flick. Kept me a bit on edge w/Cooper's excellent portrayal of uber-creepy Hanssen. You know the story already, but it's still an entertaining 2 hours.

Delightful, touching, and scary. I was on the edge of my seat at times. Plus, the Communists win, so what's not to love?

Excellent performances by Penn, Law, Winslett, but the film overall is very conservative by suggesting that political populism is inevitably corrupt and is not good for society. I haven't read the book, so I'm not sure it's quite as negative/conservative as the film. Great choice for fans of political films, but disappointing to viewers who believe in the power of the people in a Democratic society. "The world is full of sluts on skates."

Long but worth it. Angelina Jolie is wasted. Damon does a great job. Overall a fairly critical look at the CIA and the "intelligence" biz. (Gift from L's parents.)
