On the Road (finally)
- We should have done exactly what Audacity suggested and put our bed up for giveaway on Craigslist. Whoops. It was a crap bed, but there was probably someone out there for whom a crap bed for free would have been better than no bed at all.
- If you rent a car carrier with a tilting bed, do not try to drive your car onto the carrier w/out titling the bed. Stupid stupid stupid!
- Before you dismantle your life and leave on a cross-country drive, be sure to print out directions.
- Suggestion to some chain of filling stations or truck stops: Offer and advertise internet terminals connected to printers where travelers who are too dumb to think ahead can stop in and quickly print up a Google map to their destination.
- It may sound strange, but driving feels safe. With all our possessions in a truck, I feel most secure when we’re moving down the road. If we stop or exit the freeway it seems more likely that something could happenÃ¢â‚¬â€ťsomeone could break into the truck, an accident seems more likely, etc. Moving is good when you’re actually moving. Time to hit the road for another day….[tags]moving, driving[/tags]

The moving part isn’t so bad… even cross country. It’s the packing and unpacking I dread so.

Remember, if all else fails, call someone with internet access and make them be your GPS system. I’ve done it, it’s fun. :)
