What kind of blogger are you when lots of stuff is happening in your life and you don’t post for three weeks?
It’s a rhetorical question.
What has happened. We went skiing at Big Sky on opening day. It was my first time skiing since I was in Finland in about February of 1995—almost 13 years ago. What I learned from the experience is that I’m very old, very out of shape, and throwing myself down a mountain is much harder now than it was when those things were not the case.
We also went to Yellowstone and saw a real live wolf on the terraces at Mammoth. (Click thumbnail at right to see a better pic.) I also saw a bumper sticker that said “If only wolves would eat hunters.” I laughed.
The following weekend we went to Las Vegas for a family reunion. Everyone keeps asking: Did you see a show? Did you gamble? Did you stay out all night like a 24-hour party person? No, no, and no. It was a family reunion, people! We played scrabble, looked at old photos, and ate lots of great food. I highly recommend Cafe Ba Ba Reeba at the Fashion Show Mall. It’s very much like its Chicago predecessor, but in Vegas. Yum!
Of course, we also wandered the strip and were awed by the lights, watched the fountains dance at the Bellagio, experienced the Fremont Street, and just marveled at the excess that is Vegas. Oh, and I tried a Bacon Bloody Mary at the Double Down Saloon. My cousin tried the Bacon Martini. Neither of us would recommend either drink. Yikes.
