Treo680Copper

Palm introduced the new Treo 680 yesterday. It’s apparently somewhere between the 650 and 700 in terms of price and features. I doubt I’ll be able to afford this one either, but it does seem to offer some compelling new features—smaller size, no antenna stub, new phone and synching advances, etc. Interestingly, one of the reasons I’ve had my eye on the 700 is for the 1.3MP camera, but according to this review, the 650′s camera almost does a better job than the 700′s. It looks like the 680 has the same camera as the 650, so….

Why can’t Palm make a Treo w/a real camera, is what I want to know. Why!?

UPDATE: Sadness. If Gizmodo is correct, this new Treo won’t work w/Verizon, so no new 680 for me. I guess on the bright side, I can’t really afford a new phone anyway…. [tags]treo, palm, cell phone[/tags]

  1. I’m oddly enheartened that the 680 won’t work with Verizon, because I just got a 700p with them… (Cingular never went to the 700 series, so this must be the upgrade they were waiting for, since it is a GSM-capable phone.) I have heard though that soon(?) there will be a 700s, or something else in the 700 series, and I suspect that may work with Verizon (dammit…)

FWIW, the 700p isn’t as enormous as I feared. I always carry my phone in my front pocket and I can still fit it in the pockets of my jeans and shorts and such (I’m pretty small, too, so we’re not talking a very large pocket here.)

  2. Wait, I think I saw it with Verizon somewhere. I was actually going to blog about this, you know that I’m looking for a Treo.

And another thing is… nevermind… I don’t know how to tell this part with geographical anonymity – email me if you want to know the latter part. ;)
