Hey, have you heard about this iPhone thing? Apparently it’s a phone and an iPod. Wow. Most shocking to me is the cheap monthly rates for cell service and unlimited data. Verizon charges $40-50/mo. for unlimited data on top of your regular cell service. Too bad AT&T has no coverage in Montana.
But the best thing about the iPhone? It has drowned out the barrage of Paris! jail! Paris! Google calls the match by number of hits per search term:
- 97,300,000 for iphone
- 85,100,000 for paris hilton

Thanks for the pointer. Unfortunately, I have another year left on a contract w/Verizon and also, that new Dobson acquisition by AT&T gets closer, but still won’t reach me. “Dobson’s network covers rural and suburban areas in Alaska, Arizona, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.” No Montana on the list. That’s ok. I don’t have $600 to buy the thing and my Treo does more than I need for now. I’ll just vicariously enjoy everyone else’s iPhones via all that online coverage.

No iPhones in our house anytime soon–we’re also locked into Cingular for at least another year, and frankly, it’s pretty and all, but my current phone is still way more than I need since all I ever do is use it as a phone! (Plus E. gets a corporate discount, but no such thing exists for the iPhone, unsurprisingly.) We are going to cross into Macland soon though! We have our collective eye on a MacBook Pro. Overkill for my online teaching, but fab for E.’s photo and video work.
