Morning Question

If your water heater starts making more noise than usual—a sort of whisle-whine like wind blowing through drafty windows—does that mean it’s about to die?

  1. Gas or electric?

Around these parts, we have *super* hard water, which means scale can build up, and that can cause weird noises, but it’s usually a banging/clanking type noise.

  2. FamousP,

Might want to get it checked out. Most water heaters have a pressure relief valve on them to ‘let off steam’ thus preventing an explosion. It can sound like a whistle.
